Credited with helping to shape the Southern California country-rock sound of the mid-1970s, J.D. Souther co-wrote the Eagles’ ‘New Kid in Town’ and ‘Best of My Love’ and Linda Ronstadt’s ‘Faithless Love,’ among other hits.
