Cornelia Mae “Connie” Wardenburg, age 83 of Williamsburg, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 23, 2024, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Burial will be at Genoa Bluff Cemetery, rural Ladora. Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Cornelia Mae Neumann was born February 27, 1941, in West Amana, the daughter of Paul Neumann and Wilma Mittelbach Neumann. She received her education in the Amana schools, graduating from Amana High School in 1959. Following graduation, Connie attended cosmetology school. Connie and Verlyn Wardenburg were married June 6, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. Her main job was as a loyal farmer’s wife, but over the years she also had many part-time jobs in retail sales. Connie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. She enjoyed attending the events of her grandchildren, baking, gardening, and traveling to Texas with her husband during the winter. She was especially fond of her many farm cats, and she made sure they were well fed.

Connie is survived by her children, Lori Fennig (Tony) of Tigard, OR, Curt Wardenburg (Chris), Kristi Von Ahsen (Michael), Deb Wardenburg, Rick Wardenburg (Jessica), David Wardenburg (Tammy), all of Williamsburg, Kim Pope (Garry) of Conroy, Matt Wardenburg (Angie), and Shelly Welsh (Sean) all of Williamsburg; thirteen grandchildren, Lance Von Ahsen (Paige), and Ethan Von Ahsen, of Williamsburg, Kenady Healey (Dylan) of Norway and Madison Wardenburg of Blue Grass, Carson Pope and Zane Pope of Conroy, Eli Welsh and Caleb Welsh of Williamsburg, Harper and Dylan Wardenburg of Williamsburg, Cody Hartman (Ashley), and Cory Day, of Williamsburg, and Lauren Keiser (Steven) of Marengo; and five great-grandchildren, Collins Von Ahsen, Ben and Baylee Hartman, and Emma and Emerson Keiser.

Also surviving are her siblings, Betty Martens (Oris) of Amana, Robert Neumann (Connie) of Amana, Evelyn Wiebold of Conroy, Richard Neumann (Mona) of Plymouth, WI, and Glenn Neumann (Sue) of Jacksonville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Verlyn, a grandson Hunter Wardenburg, her parents, Paul and Wilma Neumann, a sister Violet Singleton, her parents in law, Mike and Elsie Wardenburg, brothers-in-law Jim Wardenburg, Dick Wiebold, and Dale Singleton, and a sister in law Virginia Neumann.
