Marcia Lynn Strasburger passed away on August 31, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on August 3, 1945, in Algona, Iowa, to Ralph and Hazel (Hamilton) Andresen.
Marcia was majorette at Tipton high school, halftime fire baton twirler and runner-up Miss Cedar County. Following graduation in 1963, attended two years of nursing school at Coe College. She married Steven Strasburger on September 4, 1971. Professionally, she enjoyed a distinguished career spanning over 50 years in the insurance industry, retiring as a Senior Account Manager from TrueNorth Companies in 2011. After retirement she was asked to continue her expertise part-time and continued for an additional 11 years.
Marcia cherished the time spent on traditional Up North vacations and hosting family holiday events. Her home was a place of family and tradition. She will be forever remembered for her kindness and modest spirit.
Survivors include her husband, Steven of Cedar Rapids; three children, Allen (Holly) Strasburger of O’Fallon, MO, Danielle (Pat) Bortscheller of Pella, and Scott (Amy) Strasburger of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren, Garion, Brittany, Dakota, Carsen, Noah, Nathan, Annabelle, Bryce, Bradley, Bridget, Adam, Ryan, and Alli; three great-grandchildren, Atlas, Arya, and Sawyer; brother, Bill Andresen of Jersey City, NJ; sister, Elise Kukuzke of Cedar Rapids, IA, sister-in-law, Frankie (the late Charles Strasburger) of The Woodlands, TX. two nephews, Carl and Shaun; and four nieces, Julie, Lisa, Erin, and Mikki as well as many great-nieces /nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 22nd from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center in Marion.
