Belle Plaine

Francis “Frank” Eugene Gauley, 73, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Aug. 31, 2024 at his home.

Frank was born May 21, 1951 to Lawrence and Audrey (Hood) Gauley in Mason City, IA. He grew up on one of the Gauley Family Farms in Sheffield, IA until age 10 and moved to Roland, IA. Frank graduated from Roland High School in 1969 as Salutatorian. His class was the last to attend Roland Community School. Frank was never afraid to work hard. He worked at Noel’s Drug store during high school. He was a farm hand for Allan and JoAnn Tweedt. He worked in Roland at Kern’s Furniture Factory, making furniture before attending DMACC in Ankeny for Tool and Die. After graduating college, Frank worked at Square D in Cedar Rapids. He accepted a Tool and Die Engineer position at Montezuma Manufacturing before moving to Williamsburg Manufacturing; with that position, he was able to travel the world.

Frank married Teri McIntosh on June 4, 1988 at St. Thomas Moore Church in Iowa City. Together they lived in Williamsburg where Frank was the Assistant General Manager for Williamsburg Manufacturing for 25 years; retiring in 2006. Moving into retirement, Frank and Teri toured the country by motorcycle. Frank lived a life of work and play balance, settling into a rental home property business.

Frank was always curious, and never stopped learning. He liked adventure, skiing, snowmobiling, dirt biking, cutting wood and kayaking. Frank enjoyed music, texting friends, and was always the mechanic who could fix anything, often dropping everything to help out family or friends.

Frank loved his family, cherishing time with his children and grandchildren, going to their activities and sporting events. Many fond memories were made many years ago taking his kids to the factory on Saturdays to hang out and play. Frank just loved being with his friends and family, chatting and hanging out.

He is survived by his wife, Teri; children, Melissa McIntosh of Tiffin, Matt (Abby) Gauley of Cedar Rapids, Jeni (Terry) Langfitt of Williamsburg, Tony (Keegan) Gauley of Marion; grandchildren, Armanie, Irelyn, Owen, Harper, Grace, Asher, Alex, Kailey, Kaleb, Kelsie; siblings, Allan Gauley of Nevada, Bruce (Linda) Gauley of Roland and Gail (Tim) Nordholm of Ankeny.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lynn (age 1).

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service. Memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 6 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service.
