Larry Leonard Westergren, 81, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Bertha, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Hallmar Village in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 915 27th Street in Marion, where the family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. Reverend Andrew Noble will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Larry was born on February 16, 1943, in Bertha, Minnesota, the son of Stanley Leonard and Eileen Margaret (Krause) Westergren. He was baptized on March 29, 1943, and later confirmed on May 12, 1957, at St. Paul’s Trinity Lutheran Church in Bertha. He was a 1961 graduate of Bertha High School and went on to attend Wadena Technical School in Wadena, Minnesota. On June 28, 1969, Larry was united in marriage to Judith Ann Anderson in Early, Iowa. He was employed for over 46 years at Rockwell Collins as an engineer, before his retirement in 2009. Larry was a “Master of many trades” and loved driving his 2000 Corvette. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Judy Westergren of Marion; three children, Brenda (Christopher Deimerly) Westergren Deimerly, David (Sarah) Westergren, and Sarah (Joshua Meredith) Westergren, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Rachel, Leah, Zachary, Morgan, Annabel, and Quinn; two great-grandchildren, Kayzlie and Hunter; two step-grandchildren, Austin and Emily; two brothers, Donald Westergren of Montrose, Colorado, and Dean Westergren of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; sister, Sandy Westergren of Coon Rapids; and sister-in-law, Lana Westergren of Lonsdale, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Westergren; and sister, Frances Westergren.

Memorials in Larry’s memory may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of Mercy.
