Debra L. Tisor, age 67, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital following complications of heart surgery.

Private family services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Interment will take place at the Columbus City Cemetery in Columbus City, Iowa. Celebration of life services will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Copper Creek Ridge in Riverside, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Debra was born May 18, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Donald Dale and Leona Dale (Johnson) Tisor. Deb attended school in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from high school in 1975.

Deb lived most of her life in Washington and worked for River Products and associated companies in Iowa City for 40-plus years. In that time, she served as Administrative and Board Secretary, Executive Assistant and Environmental, Health and Safety Co-Ordinator, responsible for all New Employee/Miner and Refresher Training mandated under the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s regulations. She also was involved in the Quarrying Industry, serving as a long-time member and former Chair of the Iowa Limestone Producers Association’s “Safety and Environmental Committees.” Tom Scott, former President and CEO of River Products said, “Deb Tisor was one of the kindest and considerate persons anyone could have known. We worked together for over 40 years, as both fellow employees and friends. We will all miss her. God Speed!”

Deb was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a Board Member. She was on the Washington County Relay For Life Committee and helped with the Iowa Special Olympics for many years. Deb enjoyed bowling, genealogy, gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was the coach of the Washington High School Bowling Team for several years.

She is survived by her brother, William D. Tisor of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, Randy L. Tisor and wife Lisa of Washington, Iowa; brother, Jeffrey A. Tisor of Washington, Iowa; five nieces and nephews: Justin (Lindsy) Tisor; Michelle (Justin) Sobaski; Nicholas (Therese) Tisor; Abigail (Alex Fields) Tisor and Karl Tisor; as well as six great-nieces and -nephews.

Deb was preceded in death by her mother in 1990, father in 2014, sister, Cynthia in 2009, and sister-in-law, Anita in 2019.
