Obituary: Richard Ray Mason

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of: Richard Ray Mason.

Carson City – Richard Ray Mason (85) passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, Sharlene Mason, and his devoted family. Richard is survived by his wife, Sharlene, and their four children: Melinda (Mason) Cameron, Melaine Mason, Greg Mason, and Michon (Mason) Metzger. He also leaves behind a legacy cherished by numerous grandchildren and a great-grandchild who brought him immense joy throughout his life.
Richard was born and raised in the Sacramento Valley before moving to Northern Nevada, where he earned his degree in accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno. He then founded Carson Building Supply, which he ran for over 20 years leaving a lasting impact in the Carson, Gardnerville and Reno area.

In addition to building a successful business, Rich was a devoted family man sharing his love of boating, snowmobiling and historic car racing with his family and friends. This love for motorized sports extended throughout his life, continuing to share these moments with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each exhilarating ride.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 2pm at St. Teresa Of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City. This venue reflects Rich and his wife, Shar’s, steadfast commitment and support to St. Teresa over the years.
