Elsie Oehler, 91, passed away on June 27 in Jacksonville Florida after a short illness. Elsie was born on July 10, 1932, in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Carl H And Helen Pecher Zimmerman. She graduated from Amana High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Along with her mother and husband, she founded and operated the Ronneburg Restaurant for 49 years. She also started The Clothes Encounter which allowed her to work in one of her favorite industries, fashion. Elsie was instrumental in starting the Amana Heritage Society as well as active in the Amana Artist Guild and a tireless volunteer within the community. She spent years as a cub scout and campfire girl leader as well as many school activities. She had many interests including cooking, traveling, art, and was an excellent seamstress. Her family was always her priority, it mattered over anything else. Elsie was a friend to everyone and dearly loved by all that knew her. She will be missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her husband William, brother George Zimmerman, and sister Helen Louise Oehler. She is survived by her four children Barry, Don, Lisa (Kennedy), and Maria as well as six grandchildren: Sarah Lentz, Chris Oehler, Neil Oehler Sean Kennedy, Katie Kennedy, and Allison Reynebeau and six great grandchildren Natalie and Matthew Kennedy, Bennet, Carter, and James Lentz and her namesake Elsie Reynebeau.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on July 20th from 4:30-6:00 in the west side of the Millstream Brau Haus in Amana, IA.
