Harlan R. Johnson Sr., 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, May 16, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one our prior. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Harlan was born on March 25, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Carl and Anna (Pfeifle) Johnson. He graduated from Franklin High School. Harlan proudly served in the United States Marines from 1954 to 1957, and subsequently in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. On December 15, 1957, he married Imogene Louise Hart in Aiken, South Carolina. Harlan dedicated over 20 years of his career to the Hubbard Milling Company. He was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298.

Survivors include his son, Harlan Jr. (Tammy) Johnson of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Joshua (Joslin) Johnson, and Holli Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Kannon Johnson, Carmen Martinez, and Kaisson Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Johnson; wife, Imogene Johnson; son, Lloyd Johnson; and siblings, Fred Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Harley Johnson Sr., and Donna Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marion American Legion Post #298.
