Iowa City
Charles Russell Immermann, 62, of Iowa City, IA died at home on March 29, 2024 of end-stage renal disease. He was born January 25, 1962 in Portsmouth, VA to Francoise Blanc and the late Thomas Immermann.
He was the beloved father of Nicole Beckley (Rick) and Amanda Smith (Cody), the beloved brother of Joseph Immermann (Carol), Daniel Immermann (Amy), and Beatrice Blanc (Michael), the beloved son of Francoise Blanc, the beloved grandfather of Deli, Simone, Rylie, and Rowan, and the beloved grandson of the late Albert H. Charlie worked in healthcare and at the University of Iowa for many years. During twenty of those years, he provided physical therapy to patients at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was nourished by the rewards of being able to improve the lives of others.
He developed an abiding interest in Native American artifacts and with a close friend was able to source and curate an impressive collection. J.R.R. Tolkien was always and forever on the bedside table and it couldn’t be spring without morel mushrooms. Wildlife, the great outdoors, and nature in all its bounty fed his soul. He delighted in a special bond with his late grandfather and accompanying European heritage. Family, books, music, a cherished feline companion all made any given day good.
A small private family celebration of life is planned for a future date.
