Hugh Wallace Motley
- March 26, 2024
Hugh Wallace Motley was born to Reverend Benjamin M. and Theresia Motley on September 9, 1932. God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to bring Wallace’s journey to a peaceful end and brought him home early Sunday morning on March 24, 2024. Wallace was blessed to live a full and rich life of 91 years.
Wallace leaves behind his beloved and caring wife Zula, and his two children Bernard and Veronica. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Elizabeth (Grubbs) of 47 years, Wallace was preceded in death by eight siblings, Mrs. Mamie Humphrey, Mr. Thomas Henry Motley, Mr. Ben Motley, Jr., Mr. Charlie C. Motley, Mrs. Mary M. Goins, Mrs. Ruth Holland, Mrs. Ada Mae Starks and Mrs. Marie Green.
Wallace was a faithful man of God, an incredible father, a devoted husband, a great son and will be fondly remembered to many as a “favorite” uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. Wallace was an exceptional provider for his family as he worked two jobs for 35+ years and still found time to be an avid fisherman, camper, gardener, a role model, good neighbor and a friend to many while always enjoying a dip of snuff.
The family will receive visitation at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton Street, Akron, Ohio 44307 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30th followed by a service at 12:00 PM. A special thank you to the Catholic Charities of Summit County and Traditions Health Hospice Care for taking extraordinary care of Wallace during his final months. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Catholic Charities of Summit County 812 Biruta St, Akron, OH 44307.
