Steve Peters
Belle Plaine
Steve Peters, of Belle Plaine, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Steve passed away one day short of his 68th birthday. Steve was born in Paris, Illinois, on March 19, 1956. He graduated from high school in Richmond, Indiana in 1974. Steve moved to Amana, Iowa in 1979, and met his wife, Deb (Brandon) Peters, and the two were married on July 18, 1980. Throughout his career, Steve worked at Frontier Co-op in Norway and retired from the Gazette in Cedar Rapids in 2019.
Those who knew Steve knew him to be a quiet, reserved friend who loved his wife, his dogs, and his nieces and nephews. Steve continued to spend time with his nieces and nephews until his death and never forgot a birthday or a special event in their lives. Steve was also deeply passionate about history, most notably Native American history, and read anything he could lay his hands on.
Steve is survived by his father, Don Peters; siblings, Donna (Ted) Peters, Scott (Bridget) Peters, and Lee Peters; brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary) Brandon and Jeffry (Peggy) Brandon; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deb Peters; mother, Judith Peters; brother, Tim Peters; and in-laws Robert “Bob” Brandon and Elizabeth Brandon.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, between 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo, Iowa. A private burial service for the family will be held on March 28th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
