Karen Sue Bucari

Karen Sue Bucari, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born August 11, 1950, in Springfield, the daughter of Phillip and Ethel Varns Keck. She is survived by her loving husband Alan Bucari whom she married on June 9, 1972.

Also surviving are her two children, Scott (Stacy) Mundstock and Lori (Jeffrey) Huggins, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Aley (Wes) Alvey, Ian (Paige) Mundstock and Cody Huggins; six great-grandchildren, Heath, Hugh and Ty Alvey and Adley, Cobie and Cullin Mundstock; and several cousins.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly Smith; one nephew, Troy Bucari, and several aunts and uncles.

Karen was a resident of Springfield all of her life. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. In her career, Karen had been an LPN at Memorial Medical Center and had a St. Joseph’s Home. She also ran a home daycare, in addition to working several clerical positions over the years.

Karen was a very talented musician and performed frequently throughout her life. She was a singer, songwriter, played guitar, piano, and went on to record her own Christian solo album, “On the Mend.” She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren.

Karen was very compassionate about helping others and had a great appreciation for every living creature that exists. She cherished the time she spent with her family and was very proud of them all.

A private family service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish/School, Catholic Charities, or Animal Protective League.
