Mike “Wheels” Devlin
Cedar Rapids
Mike “Wheels” Devlin, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his entire family.
Mike was born October 15, 1958 to Lewis and MaryAnn (Cashman) Devlin. He was raised in Prairieburg, Iowa and graduated from Central City High School in 1977. While in High School he excelled in multiple sports.
Mike married Diane Sweeney on April 13, 1985. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Mike was very proud of being a Union Man. He worked many years at Wilson Foods and later became a Union Ironworker for Local 89. He always proudly pointed out that he had only missed two days of work in his entire life.
Mike was an avid Steelers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed scratching lotto tickets, doing word search puzzles, hunting with his son, and spending time with his family at their cabin. Most of all, however, he enjoyed a cold Busch light. Mike had a witty sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Devlin; daughter, Crystal Devlin; and son, Cody Devlin; beloved granddaughters, Aria Petersmith and Kennedy Devlin; sisters, Marlys (Ray) Goebel and Sheila (Eric) Tye; brother-in-law, Dave (Maureen) Sweeney; aunts, Patsy Holub and Monica Carpenter and nieces and nephews, Amanda, Abby, Ashley, Alexis, Ethan, Brennan and Brad.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and MaryAnn Devlin and uncle Jack Cashman.
A celebration of life service will be held from noon to 6 P.M. Saturday, February 10th at the Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Road, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually.
Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
