Gloria Ann Balgeman

Gloria Ann Balgeman, age 73 of Campton Hills, IL formerly of Hinckley, IL passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was born on January 18, 1950, in New London, WI the daughter of LaVerne and Ardyce (Koch) Graham.

Gloria graduated from Concordia College in Milwaukee, WI (1970) with an Associate of Arts degree and Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL (1971) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Gloria was united in marriage on June 12, 1971, in Menasha, WI to Donald Balgeman and they were blessed to spend the next 52 years happily together.  Gloria was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, IL where her husband was the pastor until his retirement, participating in choir, hand-bells, Lady’s Aid, youth group chaperone, puppet ministry, and many other activities. She was employed until her retirement, as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician at Fox Valley Ophthalmology in Wasco, IL.

In retirement, Gloria spent much of her time with her family attending her grandkid’s sporting events, orchestra concerts, and band concerts.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, and friends to as many warm places as possible.  And through her battle with cancer, she did everything she could to live life fully until the end.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Donald Balgeman of Campton Hills, IL; her sons, Matthew (Sara) Balgeman of Bartlett, IL, Andrew (Erin) Balgeman of Woodstock, IL, and Philip (Rita) Balgeman of West Chicago, IL; her eight grandchildren; Madison, Hannah, Christian, Lucas, Henry, Oliver, Calvin, and Milo; her siblings, Dianna Kargus of Neenah, WI and Sheila (Thomas) Hanby of Neenah, WI; Randy (Susan) Graham of Menasha, WI; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Ardyce Graham; her brother, Gary Graham, and her half-brother, Vern Graham.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 19th, 2024, and from 10:00 AM until noon on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, IL, 12760 Lee Rd, Hinckley, IL.  A Funeral Service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.

Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the interment.
