Dennis Michael McConville, 70, of Horse Shoe, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Dennis was born on March 22, 1951 in Teaneck, New Jersey to the late James McConville and the late Cecelia O’Connor McConville. Dennis is also preceded in death by his brothers, John McConville and James Brendon McConville.
Dennis received a bachelor’s degree from Urbana University and spent most of his career working in purchasing.
Dennis played baseball for Urbana University and was on the starting team. After college, his love for baseball continued in his passion for the Atlanta Braves, and in taking his family to major and minor league baseball games. Dennis was an avid sports fan in general and enjoyed following Tarheel basketball, and Notre Dame football. His love for sports was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved fishing, and he loved grilling for family cookouts. He was proud of his Irish heritage and proud of his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Wendy Lee McConville; Daughters, Michelle Messina Johnson of Central, SC, and Lindsey McConville Gallagher (Sean Timothy Gallagher) of Greensboro, NC; Grandchildren, Ethan Alex Johnson of Clearfield, Utah, Kaleigh Brooke Johnson of Central, SC, Landon Anthony Bryce Johnson of Central, SC, and Anna Grace Gallagher of Greensboro, NC; Brother, Joseph McConville of Audubon, NJ, and nephew, Michael McConville (Amy Huseby McConville) of White, GA.
The family is planning a memorial service to celebrate Dennis’ life.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis’ memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
