Jennette Louisa McClurg, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away December 22, 2023 at Emery Place, Robins, Iowa. Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024, 1:00 pm, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Jennette McClurg under the video tab starting at 1:00 pm, Wednesday. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, 5-7 pm, at the Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, Iowa.
Jennette is survived by her daughter; Cynthia Peterson of Lacey, Washington, along with grandsons, Matthew (Lisa) great-granddaughter, Isla, and Cameron (Ashley) Peterson of Lacey, Washington, Derek, of Cedar Rapids, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DeVerne McClurg, son, Michael McClurg, parents, Loyd Seymour and Annie Sprouse Jones; three brothers, Russell Seymour, Fred Seymour and Stephen Lewiston; a sister, Anna Marie Slaybaugh; and a grandson, Stephen Peterson.
Jennette was born November 29, 1939 in Bayard, Iowa. She graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Iowa. Then she moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and married DeVerne D. McClurg on July 21, 1957. Jennette worked for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1995 with 36 years, and then worked for Sears as a cashier for 14 years. She was a member of Ashley Chapter DAR, and very much interested in genealogy research. She was a member of Noelridge Christian Church in Cedar Rapids.
