Juanita Marie Roling, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at St. Luke’s Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with a Vigil Service starting at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Hiawatha, Iowa, with an additional one-hour visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. before the service. A burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Juanita was born on September 13, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Milo and Mary (McNamara) Soukup. She was a graduate of Regis High School and went on to attend Mount Mercy College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish. On June 10, 1967, Juanita was united in marriage to John Lavern Roling in Cedar Rapids. Juanita taught at Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa, and Regis High School in Cedar Rapids and later served as Religious Education Office Manager at St. Pius Parish in Cedar Rapids, before retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish and the Regis Rockers. Juanita enjoyed gardening, biking, and collecting milk glass. She specialized in creating greeting cards from scratch and spending time with her grandchildren. Juanita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Juanita is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, John L. Roling of Cedar Rapids; four sons, John P. (Kimberly) Roling of Marion, Iowa, Eric (Lisa) Roling of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Christopher (Scotta) Roling of Marion, and Ryan (Krysta) Roling of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Benjamin, Madison, Madeline, Blake, Isaac, and Ella Roling; one sister, Sister Maurita Soukup of Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Michael (Joanne) Soukup of Holland, Michigan, Patrick Soukup of Hiawatha, and Timothy (Barbara) Soukup of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Mary Soukup; daughter-in-law, Janele Roling; and grandson, Zachary Roling.
