Irene E. Neal

Irene E. Neal, 88, of Springfield, died at 5:05 am, Monday, April 19, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1932 in Springfield, to Henry and Eleanor Mullen Devlin. She married Lloyd Neal on September 12, 1949, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2008.

Survivors include two children, Rita Ann Sloan of Springfield, and John L. Neal of Springfield; eight grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with two on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Roy Dan Sloan; Sister, Leona Wells and great granddaughter, Gabrielle Yocum.

Irene loved music and dancing, spending time with family, and indulging on all the desserts possible. A feisty woman who loved to laugh and make jokes. Irene loved watching old westerns, watching the birds, and sharing stories of her family. She was a bookkeeper for NECA and cared for her family. She was a member of St. Cabrini Church.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with a prayer service at 5:00 pm.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League or Audubon Society.
