Karla Jean Morris, 59, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, located at 2424 42nd St. NE in Cedar Rapids, followed by a time of fellowship. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Karla was born on April 1, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Russell Edward and Marjorie Lee (Morningstar) Morris. She was a 1983 graduate of Kennedy High School. She worked in the restaurant industry but was extremely proud of her work at Wendy’s for the past 20 years. She loved animals, nature, ’70s music, Disney movies, and was an avid old TV shows fan. Karla was a very caring person. She enjoyed cooking family recipes and church was extremely important to her. She was proud of being an April Fool’s baby and fondly remembers time spent with her family at Lake Delhi. Her family was most important to her. Karla will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Karla is survived and lovingly remembered by her mother, Majorie Morris of Marion; fiancé, Jeffrey Thing of Marion; daughter, Jennie Morris of El Paso, Texas; brother, Dan (Shirley) Morris of Cedar Rapids; sister, Brenda Borden of Marion; and brother, Paul Morris of Central City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father.
