Judith Jean Hunter

Shelton, Wash.

Judith Jean Hunter, “Honey”, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Alpine Way in Shelton, Wash. Her life journey took her from Delta, Iowa, to Cedar Rapids, to Southern California to Washington. She married Ronald Larry Hunter following the tragic death of her first husband, Leland Hunter Jr. Larry passed away in 2001.

When dementia began to impact her life in 2013, her son Randy Hunter moved to Hemet, Calif., to become her loving advocate. Eventually, she moved to Washington to be near to her daughter, whose life work is dementia care.

In addition to Trudy and Randy, she is survived by granddaughters, Phoenix Ulrich, Dakotah Hunter and Nicole Walters; and great-grandchildren, Xean and Ivy. There are countless nieces and nephews who loved her deeply and remember her cinnamon rolls. Sisters-in-law Mary Lou Zenor and Bonnie McKinney, brothers-in-law Norman Zenor and Jerry Hunter have a million stories to tell, as she joined the family when she was 14. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by Jeffrey Lynn Hunter (infant son), mother Daisy Burtlow, father Nason Burtlow, siblings Dale and Betty.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Pastor Joe Hohenshell officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery near Delta. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
