Bill Everett Nielson, 91, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.

Bill was born on Oct. 28, 1932, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Harry and Doris (Fagle) Nielson. He was a graduate of Marion High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy Reserve. In 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Jeannine Freeman in Marion. His passion in life was farming. Bill enjoyed rock collecting, fishing, and having coffee at Waubeek. Bill was a member is the Iowa Blacksmith Welders Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association and a Director of the Brown Township Insurance Board. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Justine (Jim) Meyerhoff of Cedar Rapids, and Sandy (Carl) Stein of Odessa, Mo.; grandchildren, Molly (Craig) Olson of Waukee, Kelsey (Cody) Graves of Central City, Joel (Heather) Stein of St. Clair, Mo., Erin (Paul) Hughes of Kansas City, Mo., and Nathan (Lauren) Stein of Farmington, Mo.; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dora Nielson of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannine in 2008; and brother, Norm Nielson in 2022.
