We mournfully announce the passing of Thomas David Stock, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tom peacefully passed away on Oct. 12, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Bethany Lutheran Church (2202 Forest Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403) at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Stanwood Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Tom was born to parents Woodrow Stock and Hilda (Nutzman) Stock on Jan. 13, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tom was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Iowa. He completed his education in Tipton, Iowa.
Tom lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by family and friends. Tom worked in food services at St. Luke’s Hospital for 39 years before his retirement in 2004. Tom enjoyed fishing, especially with his family in Battle Lake, Minn., and family holidays and get-togethers. Tom was quiet, but had a great sense of humor and sweet personality. A special thank-you to the staff at Discovery Living who became family to him over the years. Tom was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Tom is survived by his twin sister, Mary Nanke, sister, Sharon Easler, brother, Charles Stock; niece and nephews, Stephanie (Bryan) Bredman, David (Jenn) Nanke, Jason (Jess) Nanke, Brad Easler, Brett (Judy) Easler, Barbara Faber, Peggy (Dan) Patterson and Ken Stock as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
Tom joins his family in heaven, including his parents, brothers-in-law, Gary Nanke and Larry Easler, and sister-in-law, Dottie Stock.
Tommy will be missed by all who loved him, and those who were touched by his life.
