Charles “Chuck” Duane Strain, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023.

Chuck enjoyed anything that was outdoors or included his grandkids. He enjoyed watching racing and football. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Kira (Eric) DeSotel, Dustin (Missy) Strain and Ashley Strain; his brother, Gary Christner; his sister, Terry Wolf; and his grandchildren, Caleb DeSotel, Blake DeSotel, Kyle Strain, Jacob DeSotel, Aiden and Ethan.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Strain; parents, Norman Strain and Beverly Christner; brothers, Dean and Bruce Strain; and sister, Cherly Blazek.

We would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice, along with Heritage Specialty Care. We are grateful for all the support and care that was provided.

We are hosting a casual Celebration of Life for Chuck. Celebration is from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday Oct. 13, at Ely Community Center. Community Center at 1570 Rowley St., Ely, IA 52227.
