Jeremy Damon Rice-Himmel, 39, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the American Legion hall in Urbana, Iowa.

Jeremy was born Jan. 29, 1984, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The son of Carl and Cindy (Rice) Himmel. Jeremy’s diverse range of abilities and knowledge well surpassed his age, from

his professional life as a welder/fabricator to his many years of amateur MMA fighting. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with those close to him. Jeremy’s big smile, cheerful and warm demeanor will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his 7 year old daughter, Audrey Elaine Rice who he loved deeply, her mother, Julia Karakawa and her son, Maddox. His parents, Cindy and Carl Himmel; siblings, Nathan Himmel (Kendra), Matthew Himmel (Melanie), Laura Himmel(Nathan) and Emily Himmel (Andrew); his grandparents, Robert and Bonnie Rice; aunts and uncles, Robby Rice and his children, Shayanna, Shayne and Kylee Rice; aunt, Bobbie Joe Wagner and her children, Missy Wagner, Antonio, Mario, Jasmine and Iesha. Teresa(Rick) Danly and daughter Mellisa, Julie (Craig) Deason and children Robert, Steven and Kelli. Larry(Kathy) Himmel and daughter Heather; Scott Himmel and his daughter, Sarah McKee; Godparents, Laura and Brian Dreager; ex-wife and close friend, Amy Tow and his stepchildren, Andrew, Arek and Natalie; and special friends Brian Dixon and Chad Kelley for being an inspirational part of Jeremy’s life.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and cousins, Josh Wagner, Ryan Danly and Alan Rawlings.
