Dawn M. Van Diggelen

Dawn M. Van Diggelen

Dawn M Van Diggelen was born September 23, 1965 in Chicago to Raymond and Lee Ann.  She passed away on September 18, 2023 at her home in Walworth.

Dawn grew up on Bernard Street in Chicago, IL. She had many fond memories spending time with her grandparents, playing with her neighbors, and camping at Keller’s Kove at Bonanza campground. She moved to Wisconsin in the late 70’s and graduated from Big Foot High School.  This move lead to her falling in love with her perfect match – Ken. Ken and Dawn were married October 4, 1986 and welcomed their son, Kenny, in 1988. She was very proud of her roles as wife and mom.

Dawn was incredibly compassionate, kind, and generous. She devoted her life to caring for others of all ages. She had a special spot in her heart for children – children loved spending time with Dawn and she enjoyed it just as much. She especially loved caring for Tisha, Stefan and Carolyn Jacobson and Jacob Leonard. She was a proud grandma and loved spending time with her granddaughters singing “You are My Sunshine”, taking them for ice cream, and bringing them to the zoo. Dawn also enjoyed gardening, attending car shows with Ken and watching nature outside her home.

Dawn is survived by her husband Ken, her son Kenny (Emerald) Van Diggelen; grandchildren Brooklyn and Paige Van Diggelen; sisters Linda (Kent) Glade and Sherri (Alan) Gorecki, sisters-in-law Kathy Cooper, Diane (Steve) Perkins, brother-in-law Don (Mary Ann) Van Diggelen, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her mothers Jan Keller and Lee Ann Waller; step-father John Waller, sister Tammy Reiter, brother-in-law Rick Cooper, niece Kaitlin Cooper, nephew Kyle Cooper, mother-in-law Joan Van Diggelen and father-in-law Henry Van Diggelen.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Toynton Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St. from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.
