Marjorie E. Bastian

Marjorie E. Bastian, age 102 of Hinckley, IL passed away, at her home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was born on July 23, 1921 in Hinckley, IL the daughter of Raymond and Grace (Larison) Nehring.

Marjorie was united in marriage on January 7, 1945 to Mr. R. Harley Bastian and they spent the next 70 years happily together until his passing on November 15, 2015. Mrs. Bastian was a lifetime member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hinckley, IL. She was formerly employed, during World War II, at the Wurlitzer Piano Company in DeKalb, IL. Marjorie was a devoted farm wife, who helped her husband on their family farm throughout their marriage. She enjoyed gardening, canning and was known for her strawberry jam. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Joanne Pearson of Hinckley, IL; her granddaughter, Chris (Don) Fidler of Sycamore, IL; her great-granddaughters, Megan Fidler of Esmond, IL and Morgan Fidler of Sycamore, IL; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Grace Nehring; her husband, R. Harley Bastian; her son, James Harley Bastian on March 23, 2021; her son-in-law, Dave Pearson; her two brothers, Bud (Faith) Nehring and Donald (Mary) Nehring; also two nephews and one niece.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023 in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.
