Charles “Chuck” Franklin Flint, 88, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was born on Feb. 6, 1935, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of Dail and Fern (Moss) Flint. The family eventually moved to Cedar Rapids. Chuck served honorably as a member of the Missouri and Iowa National Guard.

Chuck started working at Johnson Gas Appliance Company, learning how to use all the machinery, moving to foreman in the production department. Wanting to get into sales, Chuck then sold heavy construction equipment and later became the sales representative for many various fasteners and parts to OEM accounts. Chuck loved and enjoyed his work experiences. He spent two terms on the Delhi City Council, was a member and trustee of Delhi Methodist Church, worked on developing a CB radio group and volunteered for the Red Cross.

Chuck was married to Roberta Freday and together they had four sons, Charles L., Christopher Kevin, Curtis Dale and Craig Allen. In 1971, Chuck married Donna (Thompson) Stockstad and added two daughters, Dawn Marie and Deanne Kay to the family. Camping became a family event for many years, and after retirement, they did lots of traveling attempting to “be in all 50 states”. When pulling the RV became difficult, Chuck and Donna spent two months each winter in Texas, making more new friends and enjoying life. Chuck was known as a man that could fix or build most anything and was the friendliest man around. Chuck enjoyed spending time with family and friends, old and new.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Donna K. Flint of Delhi; three sons, Chris (Janice) Flint of of Alton, Ill., Curtis Flint of Dysart and Craig Flint of Vinton; stepdaughters, Dawn (Lance) Smeins of Earlville and Deanne Ross of Swisher; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Charles (Mary) Flint; his sister, Wilma (Charles) Vincent; and brothers, Virgil and Kenneth Flint.
