Annabelle “Ann” Marjorie Reader, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died July 23, 2023, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Patrick Catholic Church by Rev. Dennis Miller. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Yates and son, John (Susan) Reader, both of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her only surviving sister, Mary Phyllis Bueter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years, John; and daughter, Diane.

Ann was born on December 6, 1925, in Clear Creek Townsh, 1 of 8 children of George and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Vogel Osweiler. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1944. Ann married John Reader on October 26, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and afterwards were parents to three wonderful children, Diane, Kathy and John. She was an awesome homemaker, wife and mother. Ann was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 68 years.

Ann loved to travel. She visited all 50 states and Italy and France before her husband, John, passed away. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and talking on the phone with family and friends. Ann had a green thumb, was a very good cook and always had her house immaculate. In her last 6 years, Ann lived in an apartment where she liked to watch birds, especially humming birds, deer and other wildlife. Most of all, she loved being with her family, especially the grand and great-grandchildren.
