Robert C. Rose, 73, of Anamosa, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Bob was born Oct. 22, 1949, in Bonduel, Wis., to Clarence and Phyllis (Safford) Tetting. His family later moved to Iowa, settling on a farm near Hopkinton.
On June 29, 1968, Bob married Linda Brighton at Saint Luke Catholic Church in Hopkinton. They enjoyed 55 years together and were blessed with two sons and 9 grandchildren.
Bob worked for the Milwaukee Road doing track maintenance for 10 years and then moved to the CRANDIC Railway. He worked there for 30 years and retired in 2009 as assistant road master.
Early in their marriage, Bob raced stock cars at the Jones County Fair and played softball for several local teams. He also enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, golf and especially watching his grandkids play sports. They were his pride and joy.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Bob (Amy) and Kevin (Amanda); grandchildren, Austin, Kolton, Kassidy (Brett) Duart, Alyssa, Keenan, Kale, Aaron, Adam and Karson Rose and his first great-grandchild on the way; his stepfather, Dan Rose; siblings, Carol Beitz, Linda Joy, Jeane (Chris) Blake, Jim (Michelle) Rose and Tom (Ginny) Rose; and longtime family friend, Darwin Mesch.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
