Pamela Joy Salins

Pamela Joy Salins passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a 9 month battle with cancer.  She was 77 years old.

She was born to Les & Ruth Hogrefe in Hinsdale in 1945.  Pam was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a devoted stay-at-home mother to her 5 children for many years.

Pamela had numerous wonderful qualities that made her an amazing friend, an amazing worker, and above all an amazing mother.  She was also an active member of her congregation as a Jehovah’s Witness.  Though she was fond of horses, travel, and baking, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and endless bouts of patience.

Pamela is proceeded in death by her father, Lester Hogrefe, Sandwich, Illinois.  She is survived by her husband, Steve Salins of Earlville, and their five children, Wendy Wehnes (Ralph) of Earlville, Angel Phillips (Richard) of Hinckley, Mark Salins of Hinckley, Sarah Hicks (Dan) of Earlville, Jamie Latimer (Joshua) of Dekalb.  Her 13 grandchildren, Shane, Ashley (Josh), Luke (Lauren), Brenden, Kelsey, Claire, Tori, Molly, Mary, Jaelyn, Cole, Rikki, Kennedy, and her 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Gracie.  Mother, Ruth Hogrefe, and siblings Holly Singer, Bonnie Nowak, and Rick Hefner.
