Rhonda Sue Hamill

Indianola

Rhonda Sue Hamill was born Feb. 24, 1955, as the daughter of Roy and Loretta Allard. Rhonda grew up in Cedar Rapids and became a tennis champion at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1973. The biggest milestone was placing her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Rhonda moved to Indianola in 1978. She raised her three children faithfully and taught them to know and follow Jesus. She encouraged her children to pray for others, persevere, work hard, and never give up. Rhonda was known for her joy and her infectious laughter. The LORD helped her overcome many trials in her life, defeating cancer five times, recovering from several strokes, persevering to the end. Rhonda married Daniel Hamill at Buxton Park in Indianola, Iowa, on July 9, 2016. Rhonda was employed by DrugTown, became a certified pharmacy technician, and retired after working at Hy-Vee and Fareway in 2020. Rhonda loved spending time with her grandchildren, talking with friends, visiting family, attending church faithfully, growing in her Bible studies and taking walks with her husband. She enjoyed the holidays and the National Balloon Classic with her husband and family.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Hamill of Indianola, Iowa; her three children, Andrew (Allison) McGowan of Kenosha, Wis., Aaron (Rhiannon) McGowan of Buckeye, Ariz., and Amy (Kyle) Schock of Sioux Falls, S.D.; her brother, Mike (Chris) Allard of Plymouth, Minn.; grandchildren, Elias, Loretta, Graham, Rigby, Amariah and Ramsey McGowan, Madelynn, Miles, Chloe and Noah Schock, and Blake and Kylee Hamill. Rhonda also loved her nieces, Tara (Aric) Bruggeworth of Florida and Jenna (Juston) Sanger of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Loretta Allard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
