Lloyd Lee Tripp, passed away on Wednesday April 26, 2023, at the age of 88, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the Woodlands in the Meth-Wick Community. He was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Ralph and Vera Tripp. He was a husband and father, a teacher and preacher, a gardener and builder.
He taught agriculture, second grade, fifth grade science and special education. He was an ordained minister in the Community of Christ Church, where he served in many rolls including pastor and evangelist. Wherever he lived he grew an overly ambitious garden, but then, he had produce to share. As with gardening, he built more than most people would attempt, building a few houses, an apartment building and helping construct a couple of churches.
He liked playing sports and cards, so family gatherings often included tournaments and treasure hunts. He enjoyed nature, volunteering and spending time reading Scripture and in prayer.
He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Nelson; son, Gerald (Sherri) Tripp; daughter, Christine (Scott) Silveira; daughter, Nancy (Steve) Williams; daughter, Polly (Ivan) Joseph; grandchildren, Emily (Neal) Sheldon, Stuart (Melissa) Williams, Briana (Alex) Cash, Claude Silveira, Joseph Silveira, Courtney (Max) Tripp-Stuck, Grace Joseph, Clair (Ben) Brown and Cy Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Hani, Shay, Eleanor, Owen, Clark, Joel and Rory.
He has been reunited with is Savior, Jesus, as well his wife of 63 years, Sally; daughter, Lauryce; sister, Fern; and brothers, Wilbur, Elbert and Darrell.
Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
