Orval J. Martin, 86, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Silver Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation. No services are planned at this time.

Orval was born April 14, 1937, in Greenberg, Mo., to Orval and Maggie (Norton) Martin. After high school, he joined the Marines, serving from 1957 to 1960. Orval loved sports, especially baseball and always rooted for the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR during its early years.

Those left to cherish Orval’s memory are his children, Judy (Ashley) Garlow of Marion, Iowa, James (Vicky) Martin of Tama, Iowa, Janice (Kent) Murray of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jeff Martin of Minnesota; grandchildren, Felicia, Samantha, Autumn, Ariel, Christopher, Braxton, Heather, Kylie and Caleb; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jasmin and Courtney.

Orval was preceded in death by his parents, Orval Sr. and Maggie; and his brother George.
