A. Warren Morey Jr.
Arthur Warren Morey, Jr., 99, passed away February 17, 2021 in Plano, TX. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2:15 pm at Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery.
Arthur Warren Morey, Jr. was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Wichita Falls, TX to Arthur Warren Morey, Sr. (veteran WWI) and Emma Lucinda Allison Morey (the first registered nurse of Texas). At age 3, they moved to Tulsa, OK where his brother, Jack, was born. Warren graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1938.
At Oklahoma A&M (OSU), he was an officer in SAE, class president, member of several scholastic & honorary clubs and ROTC. He earned a BA in Art at age 20 and immediately was commissioned as an Army second lieutenant.
Warren spent 2-1/2 years in North Africa, France & Germany with the 84th Corps of Engineers during WWII. After 5 years of service, in 1947 he discharged @ the rank of Major, returned to OSU to complete his B. Arch, and married the beautiful Joyzelle Fox @ Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
He and Joyzelle moved often in his early architecture career and had two children, Marsha & Steve. In 1953, the Morey familymoved to Dallas and where Warren had a 37-year architecture career. In 1959, he formed his own firm A. Warren Morey and Associates. He was a commercial architect with projects in North & East Texas, but primarily the Dallas area. His best known project was Texas Stadium in Irving, home of the Dallas Cowboys 1971-2009.
During his career, he was active & served as president in many organizations, including Seratoma (Service to Mankind), ABC (American Business Club) and Juliette Fowler Communities. He was an elder & trustee of Central Christian Church, Dallas and designed the large sanctuary cross.
Upon retirement, Warren designed & built a golf-course home @ Pecan Plantation in Granbury, TX where he & Joyzelle lived 22 years. Warren also designed a home across the street for hisbrother Jack & wife, Margie Lou. The brothers played golf & both attended First Christian Granbury. Once again, Warren had the privilege of designing a sanctuary cross and remodel.
After 65 years of marriage, Joyzelle passed away in Oct., 2012.
He was also preceded in death by, Arthur Warren Morey, Sr. & Emma Allison Morey and his brother, Jack A. Morey & wife Marjorie Lou Adams Morey.
Survived by daughter, Marsha Kay Russell & husband, Don Russell; son, Steven Clint Morey & wife, Cleide Morey & daughter, Raquel.
Granddaughter Christine X. Morey.
Grandson Travis Richard Russell, wife Jillian Russell, and great-grandchildren, Theo Jonathan Russell & Gwen Dorothy Russell.
Grandson Christopher Warren Russell, co-parent Laura Russell, and great-granddaughter, Harper Grace Russell.
Warren then lived 4 years in assisted living & memory care @ Rosewood in Flower Mound, followed by 4 years at Bader House Memory Care in Plano. He also received loving care from Encompass Hospice for 3 years. His caregivers & the other residents loved hearing Warren spontaneously singing in his beautiful, baritone at any time. He had sung in both SAE & Army Officers Glee Clubs, as well as church choirs.
Today, he is singing before the Throne of the Lord with bands of angels, covered-over by the all-encompassing love of His Savior, Jesus Christ.
