Donald Craig Duncan, 80, of Martelle, Iowa, passed away at the Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa, on Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born on May 3, 1942, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Craig) Duncan. He was a 1960 graduate of Anamosa High School. On Dec. 30, 1961, he married the love of his life, Jackie Nickol. He worked for Goss for over 35 years until his retirement. Donald was a quiet man with a big heart. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially bass fishing on the Maquoketa River and his fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. He loved going to Iowa Football games as well as watching his granddaughter’s sporting events.

Those left to cherish Donald’s memory is his wife of 61 years, Jackie Nickol Duncan of Martelle, Iowa; his children, Mike and Sherri Duncan of Monticello, Iowa, and Dr. Marc (Nick) and Joyce Duncan of Anamosa, Iowa; his grandchildren, Clay, Emma and Claire Duncan; and his sister, Donna (Bill) Cross of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the entire staffs at the Hallmark Care Center and Essence of Life Hospice for all the love and care they showed Donald while he was in their care.
