Daniel “Dan” W. Sexson
Daniel “Dan” W. Sexson, 73, of Springfield, died at 3:29 pm, Friday, March 17, 2023 at his home. He was born May 6, 1949 in Decatur, the son of Warren and Mary (Hartwig) Sexson.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon; one daughter, Holly Marie (Gary) Swagherty of Springfield; step daughter, Christine Lynne Smith of Springfield; three grandchildren, Gianna Swagherty, Chase Michael Morris and Kateera Hardcastle; one brother, David D. Sexson of Decatur, IL; four sisters-in-law, Sandie (Jeff) Vacker of Chloride, AZ, Susan Thompson of Reno, NV, Cheryl Thompson and Sheila (David) Brown, both of Springfield; best friend Mike Damery of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jackie Sexson; son, Adam Sexson; brother-in-law, Bruce A. Thompson and one sister-in-law, Stephanie Mazzini.
Dan was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He retired from the State of Illinois after 13 years of service.
Memorial Mass: 10:30 am, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Brian Alford officiating. Inurnment will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 28, 2022 at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
