Vlasta Hulshizer was born in Fairfax, on July 27, 1920, to Wesley and Frances (Jasa) Miller. She died Feb. 8, 2023, at the Northbrook Manor with her family by her side.
She married Raymond Arthur Hulshizer on June 4, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1962. Also her sister Alma Dostal and her parents, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jerry) Ealy; her granddaughters, Stacy (Mike) Sargent and Lisa (Eric) Lacoursiere; nine great-grandchildren, Bret (Micayla) Sargent, Brittan (David) Sargent, Mikala (Nate) Carney, Cody Ealy, Cameron Lacoursiere, Kayden Lacoursiere, Jace Lacoursiere, Braden Lacoursiere and Alyssa Lacoursiere; four great-great-grandchildren, Alana, Lakilyn, Bentley, Beau and one on the way.
She worked at Killian’s Department Store as a young girl and worked several years as a bookbinder at Kolarik Bookbinding Company. She spent many loving years caring for her family farm.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Chapel Garden, with the Certified Celebrant, Randy Walton officiating. A picnic in her honor will be held this summer.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cedar Valley Humane Society and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Northbrook Manor Care Center for all the love and support they showed Vlasta while she was in their care.
