Theodore Howard Ford II was born July 31, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Theodore Howard and Esther (Schaefer) Ford I. In his youth, he loved playing baseball as a catcher. After graduating high school, Ted joined the U.S. Marines Corps, and served in the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he worked as a masonry contractor for many years, until taking a job as a prison guard at the Oakdale Correction Center in Coralville. Ted helped establish and promote the Hawkeye Area Dart Throwers Organization (H.A.D.T.O.) and competed in many local and regional steel tipped dart tournaments. He enjoyed his weekly lunches for the past 25-plus years with friends at Tommy’s Restaurant until his passing. Ted was loved and appreciated by all and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ted died on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at his home near Williamsburg, at the age of 84 years.
Ted is survived by many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, in Adel. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
