Barbara L. Bowman, 92, of Yorkville passed away Wednesday, October 26th.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a luncheon immediately after.
Barbara was born on November 11, 1929 to Frederick E. and Ruby J. (Brooke) Stimpson. She was married to Godfrey F. Bowman Jr. on June 4, 1949.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (John) Schuster of Scottsdale, AZ, Sherry Korthauer of Morris, and Sally Hartkopp of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Brian (Kathleen) Schuster of Yorkville, Tricia (Brian) Kennedy of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeremey Korthauer of Yorkville, Kelly (Aaron) Royster of Montgomery, Therresa (Tim) Hawley of Seneca, Melissa Hartkopp of Melbourne, FL and Chad (Melissa) Hartkopp of Ft. Myers, FL; 21 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick E. Stimpson mother, Ruby J. Stimpson, and grandson, Joseph M. Hartkopp-Vasquez.
Barbara worked for over 40 years at General American Doors from where she retired.
She was a member of and served on the Board of Deacons at Westminster Presbyterian Church for a number of years.
Barbara enjoyed vacationing boating and fishing in Wisconsin as well as ball room dancing in her earlier years. She spoiled and cared much for her three dogs over the years. She spent time making holiday crafts, knitting, doing needlework and was an avid reader. She took great joy in decorating and hosting family and friends celebrating holidays and other events in her home.
Barbara was always a sweet and kind person who will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
