Sohan Singh Hayreh, M.D., M.S., Ph.D., D.Sc., F.R.C.S., died on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, in Maine from complications of Covid-19.

Sohan was born on Nov. 6, 1927, in India where he also had his education and early medical career. To pursue his passion for medical research, he moved to Britain in 1961 and then in 1973 to Iowa City.

Sohan is survived by his wife, Shelagh; sons, Davinder and Ravinder and their families. He also is survived by his siblings, Mohinder Kaur, Joginder Kaur, Manmohinder Singh and Sant Manmohan Singh, along with their families.

Sohan has been cremated in accordance with Sikh tradition. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
