David E. Thompson

David E. Thompson, 73, of Springfield, died at 4:07 pm, Monday, August 8, 2022 at his home. He was born March 4, 1949 in Peoria, to Clifford and Elsie (Maile) Thompson. He married Lesley A. Barnhart, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Amy M. (Brian) Crowdson of Springfield; one son, Beau C. Thompson of Springfield; two grandchildren, Griffin and Cassidy Crowdson; one brother William R. (Victoria) Thompson of Pekin; two nephews and two nieces.

His parents preceded him in death.

David was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War from 1968-1972. He was an avid golfer and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 35 years of service.

Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
