Sarah Herbert West Edmundson
- June 24, 2022
Sarah West Edmundson, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 23,
2022. She was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on April 2, 1934, to Rena Hart West and
Herbert Toy West. After graduating from Hendersonville High School in 1952, she attended the NC
Baptist School of Nursing in Winston Salem. She worked as a nurse at Pardee Memorial Hospital
and for Drs. Bill Lampley and Buckie Norton. On March 1, 1957, she married the love of her life,
Bill Edmundson, and they spent 41 wonderful years together, living in Hendersonville and Mills
River.
Sarah enjoyed being a part of the Christian Women’s Club, Women’s Missionary Union of Mills River
Baptist, Women on Mission and her circle group at First Baptist Church, and teaching Sunday
School classes. She never knew a stranger, and, in her later years, enjoyed learning she was able to
be a member of the Abraham Kuykendall Chapter, DAR. She was always quite proud of the fact
that she was a lifetime local native of Hendersonville.
She is survived by her two children: Lynn Edmundson Jackson (Tom), Andy Edmundson, and
granddaughter Caitlynn Hart Jackson, as well as several nieces, nephews, great, great-great, and
great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Sarah was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Malvern (Buddy) West, her parents, and
husband Bill.
She felt blessed to live at Carolina Village from June 23, 2010, to June 23, 2022, where she was
beloved by many—especially the Housekeeping, Nursing, Food, and Office staff whom she had
come to love as her second family. She enjoyed the kindnesses of many who cared for her,
especially the medical team at Carolina Village and Four Seasons Palliative and Hospice team.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist
Church of Hendersonville, Carolina Village Scholarship Fund, or Four Seasons Hospice.
A private family gathering will be held at later date.
