Lorraine Fields

Lorraine Fields, age 88, of Waterman, IL passed away on Friday May 20, 2022 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb surrounded by family.  She was born on June 2, 1933 in Waterman, IL to Enos and Mable (Roberts) Baie.

Lorraine was united in marriage on November 2, 1951 to Mr. Arthur Fields and they spent the next 63 years happily together until his passing on August 12, 2014.  She was a longtime employee of the Waterman School District serving as both secretary and treasurer.  She was also a longtime member of Waterman Fire Department serving as one of the department’s first EMTs and retired as an EMS Lieutenant.  Lorraine loved to play the piano and especially enjoyed accompanying students when they competed in music competitions. She spent many happy hours doing cross stitch and crocheting lovely items for her family and friends. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Lucinda (Loren) Monsess of Waterman, IL, Peggy (Allen) Newby of Sycamore, IL, Peter (Jodi) Fields of Malta, IL, and Susan (Charles) Engel of Sycamore, IL; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer (Kyle), Matthew (Ann), Joseph (Sarah), Jillian (Joseph), Heather (Robert), Joline, Mark (Rachael), Eric (Melanie), and Timothy; her 18 great-grandchildren; her brother-in law, Patrick McGinty of Fort Atkinson, WI ; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enos and Mable Baie; her husband, Arthur Fields; her brother, John Baie; and her sisters, Virginia McGinty, and Vicki Yerke.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E Garfield Street, Waterman, IL. Interment will follow in the Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.

Family and Friends may visit from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home in Waterman.
