Owen E. Brendell

 

Mr. Owen E. Brendell, loving husband, father, brother and friend, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven on the evening of Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at The Laurels of Hendersonville.  A resident of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Owen was born in Waynesville, North Carolina on October 24, 1938 and was the son of the late Fred D. Brendell and Allie C. Brendell.

 

A member of Main Street Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Owen enjoyed traveling with his family.  He was a faithful fan and supporter of the Hendersonville Bearcats and the North Carolina Tar Heels.  Owen taught with the Hendersonville City Schools and the Henderson County Schools, and following 30 years, he retired.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cheryl Brendell of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Brendell McCraw (Michael) of Columbus, North Carolina; two brothers, Fred Brendell, Jr. (Kitty) of Waynesville, North Carolina, and John Brendell (Ruby) of Candler, North Carolina; one sister, Mary Clevinger of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and students he met along his journey.

 

A celebration of Owen’s life will be held at Main Street Baptist Church in Hendersonville and will be announced once the date and time have been confirmed.

 

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Owen’s memory are asked to consider, Main Street Baptist Church, 202 South Main Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792.
