Marie Wayne

Marie (nee Fronek) Wayne, age 92 of Yorkville, IL passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born December 25, 1929 in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Viola (nee Jacobsen) Fronek.  She attended schools in Joliet.

Marie was united in marriage to Fred J. Wayne of Yorkville, Illinois on November 8, 1952 and spent the next 70 happy years together at their home in Yorkville. She was a longtime member of Yorkville Congregational church, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was active in the Platteville VFW.  Marie was instrumental in running the family business, Fred Wayne and Son Trucking, serving as bookkeeper and dispatcher, among many other duties.

Marie and Fred loved to spend weekends with friends and family at their summer cottage in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, enjoying the lake and Wisconsin favorites such as Friday night fish frys, supper clubs, estate sales, and flea markets.

Marie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Viola Fronek, and brother Charles (Charlie) Fronek. She is survived by her husband Fred Wayne, daughters Sue Williams (Jim) of Winfield, MO, Sharon Stevenson (Joe) of New Lenox, IL, Sandy Liden (Bob) of Mokena, IL and son Joe Wayne of Yorkville, IL, grandchildren Adam Stevenson (Alison), Justin Stevenson (Hanh), Jenna (nee Stevenson) Peterson (Kyle), Renee Liden and Laura Liden, and great-grandchildren Loïc Stevenson, Calvin Stevenson, Luc Stevenson and Arden Peterson, her sister-in-law Shelley Fronek, her special friend Patti Churchill and her loving caregivers, Vita Hillmer and Shelley Harvey. Marie loved her many nieces and nephews and could spend hours visiting with them at the kitchen table.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ, 409 Center Parkway, Yorkville, IL.  Interment will follow in the Cowdrey Cemetery, Yorkville, IL.

Friends may visit from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Nelson Funeral Homes, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.

Memorials in Marie’s name may be directed to the Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ or to the Lupus Foundation.
