Robert Thomas Burriss

Robert Thomas Burriss, age 86, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at his home.
Born August 15, 1935, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hazel (Carpenter) and Ezra Burriss. A man who had high standards and a hard working mindset, he was a valuable asset to General Motors until his retirement. Robert was also a strong believer in unions and fully supported his co-workers in the workplace. He worked as a homebuilder for several years. Work before play was his motto and he lived it every day.
Robert loved his family and was especially close to his grandchildren. Family cookouts were a highlight. His honest, independent nature coupled with his loving demeanor leave a legacy all will treasure. He attended Dean Road Free Will Baptist Church. Always busy, Robert enjoyed yardwork and flower gardening.
He is survived by a son, Robert W. (Rebecca) Burriss; three daughters, Vickie Cline, Mary (Danny) Perry, and Joyce M. Ash; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter; three brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, William Cline.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A brief funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Lewis County Memory Gardens, Vanceburg, Kentucky, on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
