Harris Legrand Jacobs

Harris L. Jacobs, 89, of Elgin, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Elizabeth House of Flat Rock, NC. He was born in Columbia, SC, to the late Alonzo LeRoy Jacobs and Bertha L. Jacobs; he was also predeceased by his brothers Alonzo L. Jacobs, Jr., B. Heyword Jacobs, and Ronald C. Jacobs; and his sister Thera J. Dale.

Harris was a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended Spears Creek Baptist Church in Elgin, SC. Harris had a pleasing personality and everyone that knew him loved him.

He was a man of many gifts and talents, such as woodworking. In his workshop, Harris made crafts and items for friends, but also for purchasing. Harris was a salesperson for two automobile dealerships in Columbia, SC. He was a carpenter, specializing in cabinetry for his brother Heyword, who was a builder of homes.

Harris was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the piano. His absolute favorite past time was fishing.

Left to cherish Harris’ memory are his daughter Deborah C. Jacobs, son Jake Jacobs; and sisters Patricia Campbell of Columbia, SC, Jewel Easler of Flat Rock, NC, and Emily Beutlon and husband Bruce of Monroe, NC. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, March 9^th, 2022, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC, with Reverend Stuart Jacobs officiating.
