George Voelkel

George William Voelkel, age 88 of Sandwich, IL passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1937 in Richview, IL the son of Harry P. and Elizabeth (Sensel) Voelkel.George was united in marriage on July 27, 1957 to Delphia Kay Walker and they spent the next 68 years happily together. Mr. Voelkel was employed by Caterpillar for 38 years. He was first at the Caterpillar plant in Aurora, IL working in its office for 23 years and then in its shop for 9 years. Mr. Voelkel was then at its DeKalb IL plant for 8 ½ years until his retirement. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Sandwich, IL. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather; brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by his wife, Kay Voelkel of Sandwich, IL; his children, Donna (Jon) Doud of Oswego, IL and Brian (Julie) Voelkel of Sandwich, IL; his five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Paul (JoAnne) Voelkel and Robert (Lois) Voelkel both of Nashville, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Voelkel.

A Funeral Service will take at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Cornerstone Church, 17347 Pratt Road, Sandwich, IL. Interment will follow in the Pratts Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until the Hour of Service at the Cornerstone Church in Sandwich, IL.
