Obituary for Serafina Mangione-Vella
February 16, 1952 – November 4, 2025
Serafina Mangione-Vella, 73, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on November 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving friends and family. Born on February 16, 1952, in Sicily, Italy, Serafina brought with her a rich heritage of love, food, and family that became the heart of everything she touched.
Serafina is survived by her devoted husband, Giovanni, with whom she shared a lifetime of laughter, partnership, and devotion. Together, they raised four children, who in turn blessed them with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren — each of whom was the light of her life.
Serafina was best known for her cooking and her generous, caring spirit. You could never enter her home without being greeted by the comforting aroma of something delicious simmering on the stove. She insisted that everyone who crossed her threshold be fed — and no one ever left without a loaf of her fresh-baked bread in hand. Her kitchen was not just a place for meals, but a gathering space for stories, laughter, and love.
Beyond her cooking, Serafina will be remembered for her open heart, her kindness, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy will live on in the recipes she shared, the warmth she spread, and the countless lives she has touched.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 12:30 PM at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends honor her memory by sharing a meal with someone they love — just as Serafina would have wanted.
